Product Description

A capacitor consists of two conductors close to each other, sandwich-ed by a non-conductive insulating medium.  A capacitor stores charge when a voltage is applied between its two plates.  The capacitance of a capacitor is numerically equal to the ratio of the amount of charge on a conducting plate to the voltage between the two plates.  The basic unit of capacitance of a capacitor is the farad (F).  A capacitive element is usually denoted by the letter C in a circuit diagram.  [1]  

Capacitors play an important role in tuning, bypassing, coupling and filtering circuits.  It is used in tuning circuits of transistor radios, as well as in coupling circuits and bypass circuits of color television sets.  [1]
